Methods on Detoxing Naturally
There are so many tips on how to naturally detox your body. Should you detox? Is it healthy? You may also be skeptical at some of the so called colon cleansing detox diets available. I have been asked if there is a difference between body detoxification and colon cleansing…you may also wonder if they are the same thing.
They both cleanse the body, but in different areas. A colon cleanse, does just that – it cleanses your colon. A liver cleanse, cleanses the liver and a body detox on the other hand, cleans your total body of toxins and impurities.
The following are some of the most common methods on how to naturally detox your body.
Water Fasting Body Detox
If you’re looking for the simplest and fastest body detox method, then you would find water fasting to be on the top of some lists, but it does come with a word of caution.
As you can imagine there is no food, so your body is being starved of many nutrients. It is not one of the healthiest choices, as you are only drinking water and if you do decide on this detox, use purified water.
There is only one rule to follow with this method, besides consulting with your doctor first, and that is to not eat any food…just drink purified water for a day or two. I personally do not recommend this body detox.
However, it will effectively cleanse your colon and flush out all the harmful toxins that have built up, which may already be causing you to feel sluggish and mentally tired.
Just remember, there is a major downside to this body detox technique as I said before. It does not provide the body with any nutrients at all! Therefore, you should only do this for a day or two and only with the approval of your doctor!
Colon Cleansing and Juice Diets
A similar alternative to the water fast is the juice diet. In this method, you can drink fresh fruit and vegetable juices in lieu of plain water, so you will be getting some nutrients from the juice.
Many people use juice diets for colon cleansing, but also for body detoxing.
One very popular colon cleanse is the lemon juice diet or master cleanse lemonade diet. This has been made popular by celebrities, such as Beyonce, who use it for rapid weight loss.
Despite being able to provide you with the vitamins and minerals that your body needs, going on a juice diet for extended periods is not considered to be the best method as this can cause headaches, fatigue and other health complications.
Generally, a 3-day juice diet would be more than sufficient time to cleanse the toxins from your body and boost your overall health.
Organic Diet Detox Program
So how do you naturally detox your body continuously, rather than temporarily or just once off? The best way to go about it is to switch to an organic diet.
So if you are keen to do this, skip the processed meats and other foods that are laden with additives and instead choose the organic fruits and vegetables, fresh yogurt, whole-grain breads etc.
By limiting the amount of toxins that you are ingesting, you can keep your body clean and healthy from toxins.
Natural Body Detox Supplements
Lastly if you want to use natural supplements or homeopathic formulas to either enhance your efforts or just try on their own, there are many of them available too.
Depending on the choice, some help with constipation and most claim they promote weight loss. Although a colon cleanse supplement may in fact show you have lost weight on the scales, remember it has cleansed your colon, so the weight could have been fecal matter and water, rather than deposited fat on the body.
If this sounds a little depressing, because you want to remove fat, take heart! When you are healthy and feeling good, your body doesn’t store fat the way it does when it is sluggish and unhealthy. So knowing how to naturally detox your body is a great start to feeling and looking good!
