Honey Has Delicious Health and Healing Properties
Honey is highly recognized for its healing properties and has been used for healing wounds and other illnesses for centuries. However, with the emergence of antibiotic drugs and other treatments introduced by modern conventional medicine many people these days are no longer aware of the wonderful health and healing benefits of honey.
This article aims to spread not just the sweetness but also the health benefits of honey. It can be used:
- As an energy booster
Pure honey contains natural sugars that can easily be converted by the body as a source of energy. Twenty grams of pure honey is equivalent to three per cent of a person’s daily energy requirements. Pure honey contains oligo-saccharides, enzymes, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, trace elements and antioxidants.
However, remember that all these benefits can only be obtained if you opt for pure honey and not the one that went through the process of heating, as they are in the supermarkets. Heat-treated honey no longer contains those live enzymes that are very beneficial to one’s health.
The reason the honey is heated is to prevent the natural candying process which many consumers do not like. If your honey candies it is not off! It is a natural process.

The composition of honey is a natural humectant that allows the skin to attract moisture while keeping it locked on the inside. These conjugated dienes are the so-called products of LDL cholesterol oxidation. Since honey is rich with antioxidants, consuming it on a regular basis can help prevent heart disease and cancer. That’s good news for me as I love honey!

Unlike any other forms of sugar, honey can play a part in speeding up your metabolism thereby giving the body more capability to burn excess fats. Sugar and other sweet foods are not recommended in any weight loss program. However honey can be an important inclusion to anyone’s weight loss regimen because it has more than twenty amino acids and minerals that help in staying healthy while trying to lose weight.
Its mineral contents are also considered to be helpful in preventing obesity. Not to mention the fact that honey greatly improves the digestive process and prevents the onset of weight gain. To enable your body to flush out more toxins and fats, try squeezing some lemon into a glass of warm water with honey. Why not make this a delicious habit to drink every morning on an empty stomach?
- For enhancement of the immune system
Pure honey not only has 5,000 live enzymes, it also contains a plethora of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Not to mention the fact that it is also a rich source of antiviral, antibiotic and antioxidants that stimulate an individual’s immune system to be able to fight against any respiratory ailments. Honey also works best as an immune system booster when mixed with apple cider vinegar.
I personally love and eat honey everyday…as I was a beekeeper for many years…so now I have run out of my own natural honey, I look for beekeeper’s to buy my honey from as I want untreated honey that contains all the good stuff.
