Natural Therapies Used For Arthritis Pain Relief
There are many ways for finding natural arthritis pain relief. There are alternative therapies and there are also natural homeopathic remedies. Some of the alternative treatments include acupuncture, massage therapy and magnet therapy.
The use of alternative arthritis treatments has become quite popular in recent years. The main reason for this is because they work! Not to mention there are no negative side effects, they are very safe to use and affordable. They are perfect for arthritis pain management.
Acupuncture
Of all the holistic solutions for treating arthritis, the therapy that has been in practice the longest is acupuncture. Most people are aware of this method, wherein special acupuncture needles are inserted into the skin, targeting specific areas of the body. The acupuncture needles are not actually ‘fixing’ the pain.
WebMD explains – “Acupuncture is also thought to decrease pain by increasing the release of chemicals that block pain, called endorphins. Many acu-points are near nerves. When stimulated, these nerves cause a dull ache or feeling of fullness in the muscle.
The stimulated muscle sends a message to the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), causing the release of endorphins (morphine-like chemicals produced in our own bodies during times of pain or stress). Endorphins, along with other neurotransmitters (body chemicals that modify nerve impulses), block the message of pain from being delivered up to the brain.”
Acupressure
Another ancient alternative method, but one that is not quite so ‘unnerving’ as acupuncture can be to some people, is acupressure. Instead of inserting needles, hand pressure is applied to the specific areas of the body. Along with relieving the pain of arthritis, this method also improves blood flow throughout the body.
Massage Therapy
Almost any type of massage therapy can give instant relief to painful muscles and joints. If you go to a massage therapist and ask for a massage for arthritis pain, you will most certainly find relief. To further enhance the effects of a good massage, special aromatherapy oils can be used to soothe the muscles and induce complete relaxation.
Balanced Diet
Eating a healthy diet for arthritis pain relief is well worth your while. You might be surprised at the vast improvement that you can feel in your body once you cut down your intake of sugars and foods that cause arthritis pain. Of course, diet alone will not be enough to give complete relief from arthritis but it would certainly help if you increase your consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as drink at least eight glasses of water every day.
Magnet Therapy
One of the lesser known alternative methods is the use of magnet therapy. Many people swear by this treatment and many would not be without their magnetic bracelet or magnetic blanket under their bed sheets. With the use of a magnetic pad or jewelry, you may become free of the pain and discomfort caused by your arthritis.
Spa Treatment
You may want to enjoy the luxurious benefits of a spa treatment for finding relief. Spa treatments make use of the Ayurveda techniques, which have been used for centuries in the field of healing.
Natural Arthritis Medicines and Supplements
If you need a little extra help with your alternative therapies there are always supplements, vitamins and minerals and natural medicines for arthritis symptom relief. Bromelain is one example of a natural supplement used for reducing inflammation.
