Information About Arthritis Pain
Generally defined as condition that causes joint pain and inflammation, arthritis is actually so much more complex than many people realize. Instead of being just a single ailment, it is actually made up of more than a hundred different conditions. One thing most of us know about arthritis, is that many people suffer from it and we all could at some point in our lives.
Arthritis can be classified into many different types, each of which affects a different group of people and comes with a unique set of symptoms. The term “arthritis” covers more than hundred diseases and conditions affecting joints, the surrounding tissues, and other connective tissues. It is referred to as being any disorder that causes “inflammation” of the joints. Some of the more commonly seen problems with arthritis are:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
- Lyme arthritis
- Systemic lupus erythematosus – lupus arthritis
- Carpel tunnel and other disorders.
So what is the most common form of arthritis? Of all the different types, the most frequently seen is osteoarthritis. This condition almost always appears in older individuals who have weaker joints and muscles. It is the ‘aging’ condition.
What Are The Causes of Arthritis?
As people get older, the cartilage in the bone gradually wears down. It is not very clear as to what causes the wearing down of the cartilage but the effect is clear. Once it is broken down, the bone ends become susceptible to injury and arthritis will then develop.
What Are The Typical Signs of Arthritis?
There are three basic signs that you should watch out for in order to quickly identify the onset of arthritis. These are joint pain, joint stiffness and swelling.
When left untreated for a long time, arthritis may lead to very serious health problems, such as immobility. If you’ve never experienced arthritic pain, it’s hard to imagine just how intense the pain can be. People have reported difficulties in doing ordinary things like typing on the computer, driving a car, or even changing their own clothes.
Because of the serious immobility that can be caused by the disease, people sometimes have no choice but to quit their jobs and stay home because every movement comes with indescribable pain.
There are many things that can be done to control and minimize the symptoms of arthritis, although no cure for the disease has yet been discovered. One of the usual treatments is the use of prescription medications. Unfortunately, medications also come with many limitations, like the fact that most of them only address the symptoms of arthritis and can not do anything about the root of the problem.
What Are The Advantages of Using Natural Remedies?
Natural remedies for arthritis are safer, more accessible and usually more affordable than traditional medications. They don’t have the negative side effects that on-going pain relief medication can give to health problems that always need to be addressed. These are just a few of the advantages of opting for a natural treatment.
There are many herbal supplements today used for treating or easing pain and inflammation, or homeopathic remedies such as Rhumatol.
