Natural Methods to Prevent Hair Loss
Hair loss is one of the most common aging-related problems that men and women have to deal with. Even young people can suffer with diffuse hair loss. Once people reach their forties or fifties (for some, it’s as early as the thirties) they start to worry about receding hair lines, bald spots and hair fall. While there are several hair loss products in the market today, most of them don’t work…although no-one wants to believe that…and most are not good for long-term use as they can cause undesirable side effects.
If you want to stop hair loss without these side effects, you have to make sure that you pick a natural hair loss treatment method that does not make use of synthetic ingredients or artificial chemicals.
Start With A Balanced Diet
The first step is to look at your nutritional needs. Do you eat a healthy, balanced diet. Everyone knows that a proper diet makes the body strong and healthy but not many realize that it has that effect on their hair as well.
Hair damage is one of the first signs that you are not getting all the vitamins and minerals that your body needs. In particular, deficiency in zinc and copper may cause you to experience premature hair loss and balding. Does your hair look healthy and shiny, or is it lacking lustre?
Many also suggest eating a handful of white sesame seeds everyday, taking calcium and magnesium supplements. These nutritious seeds contain about 1,200 mg of calcium and magnesium combined. These nutrients give your scalp the food it needs in order to be healthy and minimize hair loss.
Another tip is the intake of sufficient Vitamin C. This vitamin is one my grandmother swore by, all her life. I think every time I spoke to her she asked me if I was getting enough vitamin C.
If it is an indication of slowing down or completely retarding hair loss, then my grandfather was living proof that it worked! He died with a full head of thick, curly hair at nearly 80 years of age…and my grandmother made him take his vitamin C daily. Vitamin C can be obtained in many ways, from supplements or natural foods such as fruits and vegetables.
Aromatherapy For Treating Hair Loss
Of all the natural hair loss treatment methods in use today, aromatherapy is one of the most popular. First of all, it does not involve the use of harsh chemicals so it should be perfectly safe for anyone to use. Aromatherapy also does not require you to ingest anything — all you have to do is apply some of the essential oil solutions onto your scalp.
Advocates of aromatherapy as a natural hair loss treatment say that certain natural oils do promote hair growth, like the oils of lavender, cedar wood, rosemary and thyme. Not only that, these oils can also give you a feeling of overall relaxation and reduce your mind and body’s stress levels.
That said, it would seem that the obvious way to remedy the situation is to increase your zinc and copper intake through a healthy diet. Just don’t overdo it with too many supplements. Too much of a good thing, is not always good! If you overdo this, it may also cause unhealthy effects on your hair and body. Too much of these minerals may not be the best thing for you so make sure that you consult your health care professional first.
